What double-donor IVF really means
Traditionally, donated embryos come only from other patients who finished their own IVF — a scarce, unpredictable supply with long waitlists. We create embryos directly from carefully matched egg and sperm donors, so the embryos are ready when you are.
1. Two screened donors
Each embryo begins with an egg donor and a semen donor, both individually cleared for donor eligibility under FDA rules.
2. Created for the bank
Embryos are fertilized, cultured, and cryopreserved in our Virginia lab under current Good Tissue Practice.
3. Released only when cleared
No embryo leaves quarantine until both donors are confirmed eligible and the semen retest clears at six months.
4. Matched to you
Allocation is transparent, objective, and non-discriminatory — with counseling and legal clarity at every step.

Donor eligibility, both sides
A documented eligibility determination is completed for the egg donor and the sperm donor before any embryo is released.
QUARANTINE
Six-month semen retest
Anonymous donor semen is held in quarantine and retested at least six months later — the embryo is released only after a non-reactive result.
ASRM / SART
Compatible carrier screening
Both donors undergo expanded genetic carrier screening; pairings sharing the same recessive variant are never used.
CLIA / CAP
Certified testing & lab
All infectious-disease testing uses FDA-cleared assays in a CLIA-certified laboratory; our embryology lab follows CAP/ASRM standards.
TRACEABILITY
Donor-to-recipient tracking
A tracking system traces every embryo from donor to recipient and back, with anonymous identification codes carrying no personal data.

Clear legal parentage
Under Virginia code section 20-158, donors are not parents. Intended parents receive an ironclad dispositional-agreement framework drafted by reproductive counsel.

Frequently asked
Are the embryos genetically guaranteed to be healthy?
Both donors complete expanded genetic carrier screening, and we never pair donors who share the same recessive variant. However, no screening tests for every genetic condition or spontaneous mutation, so we cannot guarantee a child will be free of all genetic conditions.
Will my child know the donors, or find half-siblings?
We protect donor privacy, but absolute anonymity can no longer be guaranteed. With widely available consumer DNA testing, a child may eventually identify a donor or genetic half-siblings. We operate an open-ID default and provide counseling on how and when to talk with your child about their conception.
Who are the legal parents of a child born from these embryos?
You are. Under Virginia Code Section 20-158, gamete donors are not the legal parents of a child conceived through assisted conception. Donors relinquish all rights and duties in advance, and intended parents assume sole legal parentage and responsibility.
What happens to embryos we don't use?
Once your family is complete, you choose a disposition for any remaining embryos in your cohort: return them to the bank's donation pool, discard them per laboratory SOPs, or donate them for approved research or training.
Do you offer success guarantees?
No responsible program can. We make no guarantee of pregnancy or live birth. What we do guarantee is a rigorously screened, fully documented, compliant process — and a care team beside you throughout.
